How Brane handles your information
This policy covers the Brane web platform at thebrane.app and the Brane Field phone app. It explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. Effective September 24, 2026.
Who we are
Brane is operated by Murder Dog LLC, 7785 Robinson Way, Arvada, CO 80004. You can reach us about anything in this policy at dog@murderdog.ai.
Brane is a work tool for roofing and other service companies. A company signs up, adds its office staff, and invites its crew members to the Brane Field app. The company decides what goes into its account. For the job and customer information a company puts into Brane, we act on that company's behalf.
The short version
- We use your information to run Brane for your company. That is it.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- There are no ads in Brane and no third-party tracking or ad networks.
- The Brane Field app shares your location only while your status is En route or On site, and stops when you change it.
- You can delete your account at any time. See how to delete your account.
What the Brane Field app collects
Brane Field is the phone app for crew members. Here is everything it collects and why.
Your name, phone number, and email
Your employer enters these when they add you to their crew. Your phone number is how the office sends your invite text. Email is optional contact information and is never used to sign in.
Your location, only while you are working a job
When you set your status to En route or On site, the app shares your device's location with your office so dispatch can see the crew on the map. It keeps doing that in the background, even with the app closed, until you change your status to something else. While it is sharing, your phone shows it: the blue location bar on iPhone, and a notification on Android. When your status is Off or Available, the app does not collect your location. You can turn location permission off in your phone's settings at any time; the app still works, the office map just will not show you.
Job photos and documents
Photos you take or pick for a job are uploaded to that job, along with the GPS location saved in the photo when your camera recorded one. Documents you add to a job (like a signed contract or a permit) are uploaded to that job too. After a photo is uploaded, Brane's AI looks at it to suggest what it shows, for example storm damage. Suggestions are only filed if you confirm them.
Video walkthroughs
When you record a narrated walkthrough of a job, the app sends the recording (or, for a long one, just its audio) plus a few still frames from the video. Our servers turn the narration into text using Google Gemini, and read the still frames to suggest what they show. The text and suggestions go into the job. We do not keep the recording itself after it is transcribed.
Voice notes
When you hold the talk button, your phone's built-in speech recognition turns what you say into text. That is provided by Apple on iPhone and by Google on Android, and may run on your phone or on their servers under their own privacy terms. Brane never receives the audio of a voice note, only the text.
Messages
Messages between you and your office, and on job threads, are stored so everyone on the job can read them.
Questions you ask the Brane assistant
When you ask the assistant something, your question and the job details needed to answer it are sent to our AI providers, Anthropic and Google, to produce the answer. Anything the assistant drafts is a suggestion you confirm before it is filed.
Notifications and your device sign-in
If you allow notifications, the app registers a push notification token so we can tell you about new messages and dispatch. When you join, the app also creates a sign-in credential for your phone, kept in your phone's secure storage, so you stay signed in without a password. That credential can be revoked if a phone is lost.
What the app does not collect
The app does not read your contacts, your other photos, your browsing, or other apps. It contains no advertising or analytics tracking.
What the Brane web platform collects
- Account information for office users: name, email, role, and sign-in details. Passwords are stored only in hashed form.
- Company data your company puts into Brane: customers and their contact details, leads, jobs, estimates, proposals, invoices, photos, documents, notes, crew rosters, and schedules.
- Connected tools. If your company connects another service (for example accounting, email, calendar, or payroll software), Brane exchanges data with that service at your company's direction.
- Questions and requests you give the Brane assistant, which are processed by Anthropic and Google to produce answers and drafts.
- Technical logs such as error reports and request logs, used to keep the service running and secure.
How we use information
- To run Brane for your company: show jobs, messages, maps, and schedules.
- To send the texts, emails, and notifications the service depends on.
- To produce the AI suggestions and drafts you ask for.
- To keep the service secure, fix problems, and provide support.
Brane drafts messages to your customers, but a person at your company always reviews and sends them. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Who helps us run Brane
We share information only with the service providers that run parts of Brane for us, and only what each one needs:
- Railway hosts our servers and database.
- Anthropic and Google (Gemini) process AI requests, walkthrough transcription, and photo analysis.
- Twilio sends text messages, such as crew invites and notifications.
- Resend sends email, such as sign-in links and invitations.
- Expo delivers push notifications to the Brane Field app.
- Stripe handles subscription payments for companies. We never see or store full card numbers.
- Sentry collects error reports so we can fix problems.
- Address lookup and weather services receive job addresses or map coordinates, never your name.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
How long we keep it
We keep company data for as long as the company's Brane account is open. Your personal information is kept until you delete your account. When you do, we remove or anonymize it, including the location history tied to you, as described on the account deletion page. When a company closes its account and asks us to delete its data, we delete it, except where we must keep something longer by law. Error reports are kept for a limited time and then removed.
Your choices and rights
- Location: set your status to Off or Available, or turn off location permission in your phone's settings.
- Notifications: turn them off in your phone's settings.
- Access, correction, and export: ask your company, or email us at dog@murderdog.ai. Company owners can export their company's data from Brane.
- Deletion: delete your account from the Brane Field app, or follow these steps.
Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR. Email us and we will help. Because your company controls its job and customer records, we may pass some requests to your company to decide.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections. Access inside the service is limited to your company's own account, and each phone has its own sign-in credential that can be switched off. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away at dog@murderdog.ai if you think something is wrong.
Children
Brane is a work tool and is not directed to anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will also let company owners know before it takes effect.
